Discovering and Accepting Salvation

DISCOVERING AND ACCEPTING SALVATION

Realize God loves you.
The Bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). There is no deeper love, or greater sacrifice than that of Christ.

Realize that everyone has sin.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

Admit you not are sinless.
“We are all infected and impure with sin. When we display our righteous deeds, they are nothing but filthy rags” (Isaiah 64:6).

Realize that Jesus Christ died to pay for your sins.
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). The blood shed on the cross was about reconciling us back to God through a relationship with Jesus; salvation –deliverance from sin and its consequences.

Understand Jesus is coming back.
Having been born of the Virgin Mary, Jesus Christ, God the Son, was sent by God the Father to save His people from their sins. Furthermore, Jesus died on the cross, rose the third day, ascended into heaven, sits at right hand of the Father as our High Priest and Advocate and is coming back again (Isaiah 7:14, John 3:16-17, Romans 10:9, Acts 1:9-11).

Receive forgiveness.
“If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). How lovely is the gift of forgiveness, how beautiful it is to have a Father that understands our weakness and provides a way of escape through repentance (feel or express sincere regret or remorse about one's wrongdoing or sin).

Repent and turn from sin.
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23). Heaven awaits.

Ask Jesus Christ to be your Savior and claim His promise of eternal life.
Romans 10:9, 13 declares, “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved…For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Receive the gift of the Holy Spirit through baptism.
“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38). The Holy Spirit guides the believer, without it, we’re hopeless.

Get planted in a Church. It's so important that we are planted in a local Church that we can grow spiritual through discipleship while learning to serve others.

Jesus said, “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:9-10).
